BEST OF 2008 Part 2 (ANDRONOMOUS)

BEST OF 2008 PART 2 (ANDRONOMOUS)

SWINGING FLIES & LEAPING SALMON

2008 started with a bang with great returns of sea run brook trout in the Pentecote, Riverain & Trinity River estuaries. With great post spawn brookies fishing throughout late April and May.

June conditions were great with cold water condition all month offering some great fishing opportunities in the lower section of the Pentecote River near the route 138 bridge and maree pool. Fresh salmon started to enter the river in mid June and continued all summer long on the Trinity and Pentecote Rivers.

July conditions were very difficult with record rainfall making some pools unfishable, the Pentecote was the worse affected with its clay banks colouring the river with its chocolate brown runoff colouring the whole river below the Page pool. The trinity stayed clear but stayed high pretty much all of July creating great fishing below the dam and making the above section harder to fish. Are largest salmon was a 22 pound hen live release on the Pentecôte River.

August was great with lots of brook trout and Atlantic salmon in every pool and water remain nice and cool. Some anglers experienced 3 salmon and 10 to 20 sea run brook trout per day. Now that’s great fishing for August. We had lots of first time salmon anglers this season some getting very lucky with the conditions at hand.

Here are some highlights of 2008
